Competitive athletics- Any sporting contest designed to proclaim a “WINNER” and a “LOSER” of the competition by determining whom on that day, during that specific event, was entitled to the moniker of a superior contestant. Usually one considers the necessary component of a higher level of athletic requirement or skill level for participation in this type of contest or event. One that is determinate of a perceived superiority, as opposed to a recreational sporting event where as the superiority of the determined outcome is not as applicable.
Competitive athlete – A competitive athlete is one that desires to show superiority in a given contest between multiple participants. A strong
commitment to obtaining the highest levels of skill and athleticism are intricate elements of a competitive athlete. One must aspire to compete with vigor, and become victorious only by pushing their
individual limits and boundaries within the scope of the rules and requirements of the specific contest. Opponents that desire to show their superiority over you too will always test a competitive
athlete’s mettle and stamina for the contest. Skills in both physical and mental prowess can expect challenges at the highest limits during every contest. Some contests end in victory, and others
will be lost. A competitive athlete is one that can overcome defeat and rise to the next challenge with equal vigor.
Physical fitness training– Physical fitness training is comprised of many components that strive to maximize the athletic capability of any given individual, as well as designed to promote a greater knowledge of general health and well-being for any level of participant. Everyone will benefit from a better understanding along with a greater personal practice of a physical fitness-training program that is commensurate to the level of achievement desired, obstructed only by his or her own limitations, both literal, and perceived.
Roster spot/position– All roster spots and rotational positions on the rosters are determined by ability, desire, attitude, availability, strength, speed, flexibility, endurance, specific skill sets (i.e. ball handling, shooting, defensive prowess, etc..), INTENSITY, and commitment to the program, their team mates, and to their own progressive development. A maximum of ten (10) roster spots will be available for each team. There will be teams formed from all levels available based on the numbers of participants in the program for that season. Rotational positions are determinant of the specific minutes a player may or may not receive during any certain contest. These rotational spots are fluid and can move up or down on a consistent basis.
Team Pythic is a competitive program. If a player does not earn a roster spot, that player is eligible to remain in the program and continue to work out with the other athletes. This will be of benefit to the physical fitness of any individual and is available for all. WE DO NOT CUT ANYONE FROM THE PROGRAM – other than for disciplinary reasoning. If a participant or their parent is too disruptive during the workouts, they will be dismissed from the program. Negativity towards the program will result in expulsion.
PYTHIC
Mission Statement:
Growth of character, Growth of body, Growth of mind
Transforming today’s student athletes
into tomorrow’s championship civic leaders.
INTENSITY – BALANCE – STRENGTH
SPEED – FLEXIBILITY – SPORTSMANSHIP
The team PYTHIC concept is twofold, first we want to develop superior competitive athletes that desire to progress to the levels of fitness necessary to compete at the highest level afforded to them as an athlete. Second, we want to help all individuals to learn the spirit of competition, and to enhance everyone that chooses to participate in a strong physical fitness program. Any participant in the program not selected to be on any specific roster spot has the opportunity to participate in all workouts except specific team practices. These participants will still have a chance at a reserve spot and play on a team that finds itself in need of any substitutes for that particular contest.
We intend on creating several levels of depth for team participation. The number of available participants in the program of course will determine this. Our highest level teams (level A) will be followed by additional levels (level B), (level C), and (level D), these will be the available roster spots for each age/grade group. If it is possible, we will have two or even three teams at each level. Participants are encouraged to continue to grow and foster their ability within our program. We do understand that as a parent sometimes you will not agree with our decisions and may want to seek another opportunity for your child. If this is the case, and you do not find what you were looking for elsewhere please know you can always come back and have your child enrolled as a participant in our program. A competitive sport is not an easy road. Good health and adequate physical fitness are requirements for a healthy life by all developing individuals. We want to provide a vehicle for obtaining both by all of our participants.
Every increase of competition level will require increases in the athlete’s ability both physically and mentally. The intensity and the pressure will rise every year and for every level that an athlete increases in nature. Preparation for this is critical to their success.
Self-esteem is an important factor of a healthy lifestyle and growth development, leading to many choices and outlooks we remember long into our adult lives. Fitness has a dynamic of creating strong self-esteem in our youth, competitive athletics can go either way, for some it will be a mechanism to enhance their self-esteem and build confidence to overcome obstacles and understand both triumph and defeat are necessary components of any competition. In our lives, we all face many of these aggregate factors. It is therefore paramount to proper healthy development that we do not set up for constant failure. We simply cannot expect athletes to participate at levels they cannot reasonably achieve some sort of parity. Player’s roster spots assignments are based according to their ability and level of progress creating an environment that allows them to grow and develop at a pace they can handle. We will play “up” often with our A teams and B teams, or with the ones that are able to look at fierce competition as something they can embrace and learn from while experiencing those endeavors.
We will not put athletes that are at a C level in an A level game. This is simply too much pressure for that C level athlete to overcome. C level may play up to B level at times.
The PYTHIC team program will be fun for most and not conducive to all. We will have fun but we will work out hard and demand a lot from our participants. Our athletes receive the proper training protocols to foster their individual and team development. We will increase every participants, strength, balance, flexibility, speed, endurance, agility, and provide them with vital knowledge of how to achieve success at the various levels of competition they shall encounter now and in their future.
While PYTHIC is proud to work with participants at any level and will increase every specific participant’s athletic skill level. We cannot make everyone a star or expect everyone to reach heights that are not obtainable specifically as an individual, for a variety of reasoning. How much any given player succeeds in competitive sports, is only predetermined by how their own work ethic and their desire to become better are coupled with genetic factors allowing them to grow continually as athletes. We can show the participants how to do the things it takes to reach their highest potential, but ultimately the athlete must do the work and embrace the journey if they are ever going to reach the summit.
If you as a parent are looking for an easy program for your child to participate in, we are probably not the right fit for you or your child’s needs. If you are looking for a place that all participants are treated with respect, provided a safe environment to work out in, and a knowledgeable staff of trainers and coaches, we believe we will show you a program that you will enjoy and that your child will benefit from. WE WILL WORK HARD together! The experience will be demanding and exhilarating, while at times is very exhausting to all participants. We will push our participants to improve their individual levels of fitness. We are always open for communication with the participants, and the parents. We encourage a good communication strategy and availability to ensure a common goal is the desired outcome.
